Welcome to my official online gallery of original contemporary abstract art .
BOLD, FEARLESS, CONFIDENT - these are the words I use to describe my art. I am strongly drawn to the abstract and the power it has to provoke thought and push the limits of our imagination. The texture of the painted surface is of particular interest to me. Multiple layers of paint, medium and collage create a luscious textural landscape - a means by which I draw the viewer into my paintings and strike an emotional connection. Using an intuitive approach, I seldom work with the end in mind - each painting unfold
s in its own unique way.
Working in the nonrepresentational realm of art allows each work to speak to the viewer at a very elemental level. I try not to be too didactic in describing my paintings, rather, I prefer to let the viewer decide what he or she sees. "What you see, is what you see."
I have also worked in the semi-representational style while still remaining true to my love of texture. One example is my FASTLANE series which is a creative symbiosis of my passion for art and fast cars. In this unique series of 2D & 3D works I pay homage to the exotic automotive world. Each painting is either a semi-representational, mixed media portrayal of an exotic car or an abstract work that incorporates recognizable car parts.
I have exhibited in a variety of juried shows at Cube Gallery, Tay River Gallery, Gloucester Gallery, Cumberland Gallery, Atrium Gallery, Britannia Gallery , the Frederic Remington Art Museum (Ogdensberg, New York), the Ottawa Art Expo, the Rideau Valley Fine Art Festival, the Montreal International Art Festival as well as other local and regional exhibits.
My paintings are held in various collections in Canada, New York City and Europe.
