BOLD, STRONG, CONFIDENT.    These are words that describe the art of Katrin Smith.      Through the bold use of arylic colour and simplicity in design, Katrin  draws the viewer into each painting to discover its unique energy and textural detail.   With a special interest in the texture of the painted surface,  she is constantly pushing boundaries by experimenting with exciting new techniques.   Her work seldom starts with the end in mind - each painting unfolds in its own unique way. 

Katrin's art has been described as "mature sometimes serene works that hold the viewer's attention and engage the mind".     She has exhibited in a variety of juried shows at the Gloucester Gallery,  Cumberland Gallery,  Atrium Gallery, Britannia Gallery , the Ottawa Fine Art Festival, the Rideau Valley Fine Art Festival, the Montreal  International Art Festival and many other local and regional venues. 

Katrin's work is held in numerous private collections both in Canada and Europe.
