Artengine is a non-profit, artist-run centre that fosters democratic and innovative approaches to electronic art and its evolving relationship with society. Serving both the Anglophone and Francophone communities of the greater Ottawa region and the Outaouais, Artengine created the "Artlist" a significant point of public access and the oldest cultural mailing list in the region. This is a fabulous resource for visual artists to keep informed on what is happening in our cultural community in all aspects of the arts.
Arts Ottawa East is a not-for-profit charitable organization whose mission is to encourage and support the practice and appreciation of the arts in Ottawa. AOE offers promotional, developmental and advisory services to artists and arts organizations as well as advocacy and information, community arts developemnt, projects,events and programs.
CARFAC Ontario is the association of professional visual and media arrtists. The work of CARFAC Ontario is to develop policies, publications and services that assist artists, galleries, curators, art patrons and other stakeholders in creating an economic climate that benefits all visual artists.
Cube Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that hosts a new group show every month. It is the brainchild of Ottawa artist and curator Don Monet. Centrally located in the heart of west-end Ottawa on Wellington St., Cube is a short stroll from the GCTC and some of Ottawa's greatest new restaurants on Holland and Wellington.
The Foyer Gallery is an artist run gallery that aims at offering the public unique, professional yet affordable art. Currently, the gallery features the art of 27 professional artists who work in a variety of media, many of whom have received local, national and international recognition.
The Nepean Fine Arts League (NFAL) is a non-profit organization of artists and artisans from the Ottawa area with over 200 members who work in many and varied media. It's purpose is to promote interest in and the study of the arts; promote demonstrations and workshops in the arts and art-related activities; and to promote and provide venues for art and artists. NFAL sponsors 5 major exhibitions/sales each year.
Ottawa Art Expo aims too enhance the value that the public attaches to the arts, recognize the best amongst the fine arts community at an awards gala and celebrate Ottawa and Canada's cultural heritage as seen through the eyes of its artists. For fine artists, this exposition, run and managed by artists for artists as a not for profit corporation, will provide an exciting and consistent commercial opportunity for both professional and amateur. A key long range goal is to have the exhibition become biannual.
OMMA is a collective of over a hundred artists working in an experimental and creative manner to create contemporary mixed media art. Monthly meetings, workshops and open and juried exhibitions are some of the activities offered.
Each year near the end of August, the pituresque village of Westport on Upper Rideau Lake hosts the Rideau Valley Art Festival. This juried fesitval features gallery quality original art from over 60 local and regional artists. Come see this year's showcase of exceptional talent August 21-23, 2009. Artists will be on hand to answer all your questions.
Tay River Gallery is a Canadian contemporary fine art gallery located in Perth, Ontario near Ottawa and Kingston. The gallery focus is to present exemplary original works across the broad spectrum of Canadian art. Since 2002, Tay River Gallery has represented dedicated emerging and established artists who have received recognition with awards and distinctions in the Canadian visual arts field. Exhibitions are scheduled throughout the year highlighting different media, styles and subject matter. The gallery is located at 28 Wilson St. W. in Perth, Ontario.
VAO is Canada's largest and most active association of working artists and arts professionals offering career management and skills development services. It's quarterly newsletter features listings of call for entry competitions, jobs, funding, events and courses for artists. This is a fabulous resource for artists looking to broaden their horizons.
